Hello,
I am not entirely sure if this is the right place to report this, but over the last roughly 3 days, DESS (Dynamic ESS) has been fetching day-ahead energy prices with significant delays—usually around midnight, even though OTE/day-ahead market prices are publicly available by ~15:00 CEST.
Because DESS lacks price data for the upcoming hours, it mismanages the strategy and completely discharges the battery into the grid in the evening. Consequently, I am forced to import expensive energy from the grid overnight. Multiple users have reported experiencing the exact same behavior in the Czech Victron Facebook group.
Furthermore, as of today, DESS fails to load the prices entirely.
Is there an ongoing API / backend issue with fetching price feeds for this region?
Region / Market: Czech Republic (OTE)
System: Victron GX / VRM Dynamic ESS
Thank you for looking into this.
Exactly same problem with my instalation in the Czech Republic. No prices today. Same error message
I noticed that yesterday the day-ahead prices for Latvia showed up about five hours after they were published, so there might be an issue on the Victron side.
Yes, prices are delayed again. Also DESS schedule does not recalculate despite having much less solar production than predicted.
I can confirm this issue, exactly the same on my site.
I can confirm that the price data for Czech Republic are completely missing in vrm.victronenergy.com for second day already.
As well I verified that the market data in entso-e are actually available just fine and that the error message in VRM which says:
Dynamic ESS: Energy prices for your region are currently unavailable. This should soon resolve itself.
… is actually missleading as it doesn’t correct itself at all.
As well the fact that the outage started exactly at Sept 1st is suspicious and likely indicates some scheduled change somewhere that victron didn’t digest well.
@Barbara can you please support? We have this problem all in the region here and seems that the only Victoron site is concerned at the moment…
How can we escalate this issue?
It is unfortunate that Victron doesn’t provide a status page showing the health of external dependencies and API integrations. Multiple users have reported having the exact same problem here on the forum over the past two days, yet we have had no response or acknowledgment so far.
As a community, we are left completely in the dark without a clear path to report outages like this, even though it appears to affect most installations relying on day-ahead prices in the Czech Republic.
Could someone from the team please look into this and confirm whether you are aware of the problem and actively working on a fix?
@guystewart can you please forward this issue to relevant person?
I asked the team to look into it why the prices weren’t announced via our regular supplier (entsoe).
Dynamic ESS: ENTSO-E prices for your region are currently unavailable. This should be resolved soon, but it hasn’t been working for several days now—is there any information on this?

Been a problem in Denmark for a few days too, my Home Assistant integrations has been able to fetch the prices.
Update
I posted this at 18:55, and prices then started showing again from 19:15…
I can confirm that the prices are finally loading properly now.
However, the main concern here remains the lack of communication and visibility during the outage. It would be very helpful if the team could provide a brief post-mortem on what actually happened and what measures are being taken to prevent this from recurring.
Problem was on the entso-e side, which is our main source.
We have a backup service running for most countries, but CZ wasn’t part of that backup service (Nordpool). We are now implementing Day-Ahead Market – DAM — English as a backup for CZ and are also checking alternatives for other countries that have no backup implemented.
Thanks a lot for the transparent explanation, Dirk-Jan, and especially for implementing the OTE DAM backup for CZ. Much appreciated!
In Denmark we also got this Strømligning API: Effektiv adgang til danske elpriser og data it can also show taxes and duties, and tariffs for different times of the day.
Actually this doesn’t seems to be fully resolved yet.
It worked yesterday and then the prices stopped being available on midnight again.
if I turn DESS off and on again, the prices suddenly appear in VRM and the powerplant starts to behave correctly again.
But my susspicion is that this might happen again this midnight.
