DC to DC going absorption battery is less than 15%

Is it normal for the DC to DC charger to go into absorption before the battery is anywhere near 100% as that’s what mine is doing?

The battery is measuring 12.8V, The Incredible Bulk is measuring 14.2V, so you are loosing 1.4V somewhere. Check cabling, connections, fuses for bad/loose connections, both on positive and negative pole.

Which Orion exactly are you using? Is it not showing any current in the overview?

thanks for you reply I’m Using the Orion-tr smart 12/12 30a non isolated and also 100/30 MPPT solar. Will go check al the cables now. When I went to shop today were I got the thing they told me it was because I’m not charging my battery on mains / hook up once a month is there any truth in that ?

No truth in that, I go for months at a time without mains charge on my boat just alternator and solar into lithium batteries.

As said above classic symptoms of a poor connection on the Orion to battery cable or ground cable.

Yeah that what I was thing been and checked all the cable the MPPT and battery app are matching up on volts and now there only a 0.2 different from DC/DC to battery so hopefully it’s all better now

There is truth in the advice that you should fully charge your battery at least once a month. This means that the cells get balanced routinely and the SOC gets resynchronised at 100% as the SOC can drift. Perhaps the shop was meaning this and thought the only way to do it was hook up. If you get to 100% from alternator or solar then that is fine.
