DC/DC charger off of a Mercury 60hp outboard

So, I am setting up a lithium battery for my trolling motor.

My question is, will I be ok using a 12/12-18 Orion DC/DC charger. The max output of the 60hp stator charging system is 18A, and the DC/DC charger is also rated at 18A.

Am I overthinking this, or am I potentially going to burn something out. I was hoping I would be able to reduce the DC/DC charger output to 10A or so via the app. I haven’t set it all up yet, but can’t find any reference to reducing amperage output.

That model does not have variable charge output. Typically on an alternator you only want to run at around 50% of the rated output long term.

That makes sense with an alternator, just not real sure how a stator charging system works. Are they putting basically max amps out all the time, regardless of main battery state. That is why you can’t use low internal resistance batteries with a stator system, they kind of rely on the battery internal resistance to help regulate. But I don’t understand if or how the DC DC charger will affect the system.

Might be a case of try it and see, I am sure I am not the first person to want to do this.
