i am enquiring on what DC to DC charger to purchase thanks, I have a mercury outboard motor which by the specs puts out 35 amps, I have a lead acid starting battery for the motor and a 100ah lithium battery to run electronics etc, I want to be able to charge both while underway thanks so juts chasing some help as to which will suit my needs please due to the charging issues that can occur if with outboard motors and Lithium.
Thanks
I would suggest the Orion isolated charger 12/12-18 between the starter battery and the lithium. This will use 50% of your alternator capacity. You really should not run and alternator long term at more than 70% rating as the rating is usually peak output when cold. This will leave you with some spare.
As an alternative you could use the non-isolated Orion XS, this is a 50A unit but the output can be adjusted to a lower value, say 25A to have a higher output still within the working range of the alternator. Downside is the much higher cost.
Thanks for that , much appreciated
