Data missing after halve a year

I wanted to compare the solar data of this winter against last winter but I noticed in the online portal there is no data older than 6 months. This apart from the SOC data. But the yield data is not there. And every day I lose one day. My reseller tolled me that the data should stay there.

Is this a setting in the portal or from my end, should my reseller do something? Is there a bug in the system??

VRM has never stored data indefinitely.
It keeps different data types for different lengths.
iirc detailed data is around 6 months. Higher level stats are longer.

Like most things, there are answers in the various manuals.

If you intend keeping it longer, you can implement grafana at your site.

A useful enhancement would be to allow data to be stored indefinitely on an SD card (while also being sent to VRM). A 32 GB one should be able to store a lifetime of data (Victron says about 1 GB for 3 years). AFAIK, SD cards are currently only used for temporary caching of data.

You can do this with nodered and some small integration.
Victron have a premade grafana build that you can run on a pc or pi.
All the data is accessible to be captured if someone is so inclined.

That requires an Internet connection, significant effort, and is much more costly than a $10 SD card.

No. Nodered runs locally on the GX and can be configured to write to internal disk or to push data elsewhere.
Similar with grafana, put a Pi on the LAN that talks to the GX, it is accessed locally via browser.
If you are relying on VRM you already have an internet connection.
If you want no internet then local nodered and grafana are easy solutions.

thanks. I asked my reseller and he claimed it would be stored for a long time. He asked me to ask here. Sorry I did not know about this manual.

So the yield from the dashboard is stored 5 years:

Advanced data shown in the Advanced tab is being stored for at least 6 months, with exception of Battery state of charge.

Dashboard data used to show the solar yield and the consumption information (kWh data) is stored for a minimum of 5 years.

how can I excess (download) the 5 years of data if not via the advanced overview

You should be able to export to csv from VRM, so if you do that at intervals you will have a reference set that can be imported elsewhere.
You can also pull data via API if you want to do that.

ah yes i see, almost all columns are empty apart from the SOC and total yield. As this happens every 6 months a would need to download 3 times a year (or exactly at 31-12-20xx : 23:59 and 6-31-20xx 23:59) to download all data. It would be handy if i could set an email address to get a halve year dump before it gets deleted. Or keep zipfiles with whit the data online. It is about 2mb per year in zipped format should be doable without running into costs.

But for now I will set a meeting in my agenda

Thanks Nick for the clear and prompt answer

“Internal disk” - does that include an SD Card, which the docs cited above refer to as external? And can the data be written in a form readable by VRM (sqlite)? Is the database schema even documented? (I suppose it is somewhere in the Venus OS on github). There’s a 200 MB limit on uploading GX files, so for long term storage, multiple files (“date named”) should be automatically created.

But really, you’re completely missing the point. It’s not about what’s possible with considerable knowledge and effort, but providing something the average user can get long term historical data from.

@Mike.S i agree, i think it is simple to add something which will not make the victron more costly.

Luckily I had some screendumps and from that a can make a compare for the 3 winter months. And fun fact here in Spain I counted sunny days:
November 11 vs 8 (last year vs this year) this month from 9th data only
December 12 vs 6
Januari 12 vs 6
