Controlling Orion-TR with BMV-712

I am going to installed a Orion-TR DC/DC charger to supplement the solar charging I’m doing with my Victron MPPT. I have a BMV-712 in place and it appears that I can use the relay on it to control the Orion so it turns on and off and needed. Looking at the manual is shows the remote H pin of the Orion connecting to the relay on the BMV but it doesn’t show where exactly. Doing some digging around, I came across the following instructions but would like to get some confirmation from the experts here. I should mention this will be in a vehicle. So I really don’t want the Orion running unless the vehicle is running. Does this look right?

Step 1: Wire the BMV-712 relay to the Orion-TR

The BMV’s built-in relay is a low-current switch that cannot handle the high amperage of the Orion-TR, so it will only be used to toggle the Orion’s remote on/off feature.

  1. Locate the remote on/off terminals on the Orion-TR. These are typically marked with an “L” and an “H” pin or have a removable green terminal block. A wire bridge is installed on the terminal block by default and must be removed.

  2. Connect the BMV relay to the Orion-TR remote on/off terminals.

    • Connect the BMV-712’s COM (Common) relay terminal to the Orion’s remote on/off H pin.

    • • Connect the BMV’s NO (Normally Open) relay terminal to the Orion’s remote on/off L pin.

The above will work to control the Orion by the BMV relay.

The engine shutdown voltage settings are then used to make sure the Orion only charges when the engine battery is receiving charge from the alternator.

Sounds good, thank you. I’ll work to get it installed here in the next week so.
