I have a grid connection but in order to avoid having to apply for permission to install my solar PV system it is NOT directly connected to the grid. The 48V battery bank is charged by the solar panels only. The battery charger in the inverter is not used. To provide power to the load when the battery voltage is low an automatic transfer switch transfers the load to the grid. Is it possible to do so via the SmartSolar RS or the Multiplus? I have noted that the Venus GX has voltage free relay contacts to start/stop a generator should the battery voltage exceed fall below a set level and the SmartSolar manual mentions settings to control a gesnet.
My present installation has an 11kW off-grid inverter. I have AC battery chargers which charge the batteries with off-peak electricity. The automatic transfer switch uses a voltage sensing relay to detect the battery voltage but this relay is not very stable and drifts over time.
I would like to replace the 11kW inverter with a larger capacity Victron multi inverter set up and am considering the following options:
3 nos SmartSolar RS48/6000
2 nos MultiPlus II 48/10000
Which inverters would best suit my specific requirements? From a cost point of view there is little difference but my preference is for simple set up and control. I understand that the SmartSolar RS uses high frequency inverters rather than transformers in the MultiPlus. I have no highly inductive loads, mostly resistance. I would welcome any advice in English, Dutch or German (I am fluent in those languages).
There may already be a topic that covers this issue.
Thanks
