Connecting a non-Victron solar irradiance sensor other than IMT Si-RS485TC

Hello,

In our project, we are using a Cerbo GX to monitor all relevant system metrics. We have used other Victron products that should connect without an issue. However, for the solar irradiance sensor, the only supported sensor that is supported by Victron is the IMT Si-RS485TC (or others from the IMT series).

The sensor is a little too expensive for our purposes and we’d be fine with a cheaper sensor.

Are there any compatible sensors on the market that could work? If not, what can we do to make it compatible?

We are using Modbus TCP/IP for communications.

Hi @s0laris, this year we released the SolarSense 750 which is a wireless self-powered PV-installation monitor that also measures solar irradiance.

If you prefer a wired solution, then the IMT is the only officially supported product. However, you can use Node-RED to interface with unsupported sensors as well. I’ve used it to interface with a Hukseflux pyranometer (which unfortunately isn’t very cheap )
