Chipset variants of Multiplus-II 48/15000/200-100 2619 vs 2684 (PMP483150000)

I have three Multiplus-II 48/15000/200-100 (PMP483150000) units that our customer is using in a 3 phase configuration. 2 of the units have the chip number 2684 and one has the chip number 2619. The customer purchased them from us at the same time, but we received them from Victron about 2 months apart.

For the 2684 unit, the only firmware available is 557.

For the 2619 units, firmware 556 and 558 are available, but no 557

Can the 2684 unit be loaded with the 2619 firmware so they can be used in a 3 phase setup? Usually the prerequisite is for the chip numbers to be the same (26xxxxx), I haven’t come across this issue where the model number and chip numbers match, but they have different “firmware models”.

If they are already working, why upgrade?

Hi @Gareth_Thomas

Some good news;

The 2619 and 2684 will be able to work together in 3 phase

However, there is a wait until v558 firmware is released to support both.

I don’t know when that will be yet, but I will update this post when I do.

Hi Guy,
It would be nice if one were also able to mix inverter powers on the VE-bus as well - such that 3kw 5kw etc could also work in parallel - NOT multiphase. I think that this would be restricted to inverters which have the same group of facilities, but power can be scaled by the inverter as a function of it’s maximum power (i.e. p.u. power and current for the technical guys). This would add a huge amount of flexibility in parallel designs.

Thanks @guystewart I guess that means they are genuinely different from a hardware perspective. Will future shipments be 2684 or will there still be a mix of chipsets?

Our customer is commissioning the system vary soon, so it would be great to get the firmware asap, otherwise they will need to pull the inverter off the wall and ship it back to us etc.

Hi Mike,

That is closer to how our (unreleased) microgrid technology works. There was an impressive public demo shown at the METS distributor event in November.

I will have more to announce in a seperate post shortly.

Hi @guystewart

Just had a look at another 6 of these units - all of them have “COMP ID: 2619_A” on the label. I opened up one of them, and it has COMP ID: 2619-A on the label on the outside, but the chip number is 2684.

How can I be sure which inverters are going to work together?

Hi @Gareth_Thomas

I will send you an email with the v558 firmware that supports both these firmware models and that should resolve the issue.

This firmware will be released as per the normal process as well.

Many Thanks!
