Cerbo operation

These screen shots show our cerbo display on my phone. It says the solar yield is zero, the 3 IP-43 chargers are all running at 0A. But the DC loads icon is showing 14.5V to the batteries. Where is that current coming from? The IP-43 are the only chargers in the system.

The PV system is 1200W, with 8 smart solar MPPTs. There are connected to the cerbo through a USB hub, except for one MPPT, which is connected to the cerbo directly using a single VE.Direct cable because there were only 7 ports available on the Startech hub. All the MPPTs are networked together, so that when I am on the boat, I can connect to them over bluetooth and get network total power. Is there a specific MPPT that operates as the master for the network? Does is matter how they are all connected to the cerbo?

As these devices are not showing on the Cerbo, then it seems that you have a problem with the VE direct connections. You have a lot of MPPT’s. I would connect the largest units direct to the Cerbo using VE Direct cables 3 off, and then the remainder through the USB interfaces.

Your screenshot shows only 3 MPPTs: what happened to the other 5?

If your MPPTs have VE.CAN you can daisy chain them.

It’s not advisable to use both a wired and wireless network at the same time. This doesn’t mean it can’t work but there can be problems.

When many MPPTs are synchronized, one is generally picked at random to be the master.

7 MPPTs are connected in parallel to a usb hub. The 8th is connected directly to the cerbo.

I’m only attempting to monitor the system through the cerbo. Not sure what it means to use wired and wireless at the same time.

All properly connected MPPTs should show on VRM and the Cerbo under device list. See VRM example.

On the second question, I see what you are saying but that’s not the way it works. You should not have your MPPTs networked via VE wireless network and simultaneously connected to the Cerbo by wire, regardless of how or when you either of them.

OK. So I should delete the network I created previous to installing the cerbo? The IP-43 chargers are also networked together before the cerbo was installed, but all 3 show up in VRM.

Try that. There can be a conflict.

The cerbo still shows only 1 (this is the only one that shows “External Control”) of the 8 MPPTs even after deleting the network I created for them.

The manual says use VE.Direct cables, or VE.Direct to USB adapter with a powered hub. This is what I did.

These are not behaving the same way as the 3 IP-43 chargers I have in the system. This network has also been deleted. None of them show External Control.

Try connecting the MPPTs one by one directly to the Cerbo without the USB-Hub.

Wich USB Port do you use?
The first version of the Cerbo has one USB port (next to the HDMI port) that is only a power supply for the GX Touch, that port can’t be used for data.

To be clear, all the 8 chargers are listed in the Cerbo and VRM under device list but only 1 reads as being under external control? Can you attach a screenshot from the Cerbo?

only 1 MPPT appears on the cerbo. All the others seem to have their charge currents shown in the DC Loads box.

I happened to get that part right.

Can you connect the chargers that are not appearing over the VE Direct ports, as @M_Lange suggests? Make sure you use the working VE Direct cables. This may help diagnose the problem
