Cerbo issues with v3.60

CerboGX (V1) with an overload issue on 3.6

48V, Large Image with SignalK and One App (NoForeignLand), 5" Screen
7 x USB VE.Direct, 1 USB GPS, 1 USB Bluetooth, 1USB MK3 to MPII
VE.CAN (N2K), VE.Direct (3 devices), VE.Bus (MPII)
VRM via WiFi

Assume heat related. Display response is very laggy when it’s avaialable.

This issue is specific to the CCGX, Cerbo’s can have issues with some modifications and customisations, will move this query to the right section.
Amend the title as necessary. Thanks.

Yeah I had the same issue with my cerbo GX when upgraded to 3.60 but so far it hasn’t come back which is good

The upgrade process can challenge a Cerbo that is already quite busy, but it settles once the process is complete.
3.60, as per the notes, has slightly higher CPU usage, due to the upgraded kernel and modules, so if you are marginal wrt temperature and resources, it could tip you over the edge.

Upgrade succeeded, worked for 12hrs and then went to “loading” screen next day, I assume as temps increased.
Unit is 45C in 35C ambient with 3.55
Goes to over 50C with 3.6 using IR gun on front case.

Indeed. You need to try cool that GX down.

I think so. I’m debating drilling the case and adding a fan. 35C ambient doesn’t seem extreme. I can’t find anyone who has done that mod.
Any plans for a mk3 soon?

Considering electrical gear is designed around 25C that is quite warm.
These IOT style devices tend to all have dense form factors, cpus don’t like to get hot. I doubt any later devices will be different.
The ekrano is the latest, with a screen, and the most powerful by some margin.

I’m wondering if I should implement some sort of cooling. I have all my stuff in one little room and the outside temp regularly exceeds 40ºC. Today is 37.5. According to the BMS my batteries are currently at around 32/33.

I have a 120mm noctua with simple speed control on temp, silent and high volume.
