Will my 4 Daly BMS’s (newest model) communicate with my Cerbo GX via the Canbus 485 bus? I’m assuming the protocol is generic but I’m reluctant to just “plg them in and try” for fear of damaging either the BMSs or the Cerbo.
The Dalys use GH1.25 sockets so I’d have to make up some cables but if I’ve understood correctly I’d go from Cerbo to BMS 1 Canbus 1 connector. BMS 1 canbus connector 2 to BMS 2 Canbus connector 1 and so on and then use the terminator on BMS 4 canvus connector 2?
I did connect CAN, but it lasted for 5 seconds, and BMS went offline. If I unplug and plug it back in, sometimes BMS appears, and sometimes not. It lasts for 5 seconds. I used communication board and custom network cable.
I have 4 BMSs in my system, one for each of the 4 batteries.
I’m getting by with just the Bluetooth dongles at the moment because were on a big roadtrip, thus we are with the RV.
When I initially made my post the RV was parked up and in a different country to me thus I wanted the ability to look at each battery and cell to put my mind at rest that everything with my newly built system was OK. Connection via the Cerbo seemed the obvious solution.
I’ve recently bought 4 Bluetooth / Wifi dongles for the Daly BMSs at a mere £10 each, but haven’t gotten round to swapping them for the old ones yet as we’ve been sightseeing galore and obviously I can see the data I want in “local” mode but I think once they’re fitted and I can connect via the Daly app I’ll be able to see what I need with the minor inconvenience of having to view two separate apps, but at £40 total I can live with that.
