Dear community,
the I have a JK inverter BMS and a Cerbo GX which cannot communicate.
I do not see the BMS in the device list.
I am using the original type A Victron cable.
I do not see any TX or RX packets when they are interconnected using the BMS-CAN port.
I have confirmed and the CAN port is not in stopped state, it is UP.
If I connect to the VE-CAN port and set the baud rate to 250, I see both TX and RX packets, however the BMS does not show up in the device list.
I have updated to he latest version of Cerbo.
I have 3x JK Inverter BMS and all have the same issue.
What else can I check?
Did you use the second RJ-45 connector on the JK BMS? Some versions of the documentation have the first two connectors (RS485-1 & CAN) swapped. The correct cable to use for the JK inverter BMS is the type B cable, but the type A cable also works as the ground connection is not required.
Good Morning Dirk,
I use the second RJ-45 connector
So far I have tried type A, but will also try type B.
On the Cerbo, should I use the BMS-CAN or VE-CAN Port?
If VE-CAN, which baud rate?
Type B Cable also does not work. I have tried the BMS-CAN (no Tx and Rx), VE-CAN (Tx and RX when set to 250), no Tx and RX when set to 500. I also tried the first port of the BMS with all combinations.
Is the jk inverter bms set to talk “victron”-can?
You should use the BMS-CAN port set to 500 kbit/s. And I suggest using using a terminator at the Cerbo side. Protocol 4 is OK.
