Cerbo GX MK2 Firmware Update w/New-UI No Remote Console

Hello,

Just updated the firmware to v3.75 on my Cerbo GX with the new UI and I can not get the remote console to work. It says it’s disabled on my device list and I can’t seem to find anywhere to enable it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Are you trying to connect over vrm or local?

Hi LX,

I’m not sure what you mean by local? I have a cheesy little Raspberry-pi screen that I’m using because Airstream can’t do things right and put in a GX Touch next to the C-Zone screen apparently. But I am able to use that screen hooked up directly to the Cerbo with a mouse. So I can go through everything that way when I’m at the camper.

I’m mostly concerned with connecting over VRM. I did more reading from different posts last night and someone said to change back to the classic UI, so I did that. I also changed my wifi from directly to the starlink to the Airstream router via wifi which has a wired ethernet connection to the starlink. I’m not sure which did the trick, but I can now access the remote console via VRM. Although the new UI does not work, but the classic does work, which is fine.

I would like to be able to maximize or enlarge the console size on my tablet but can’t figure that out yet.

So you have an original display from Victron that is working?
What’s not working is the remote console and a 3rd party display?
Do you have any 3rd party scripts/software running for the 3rd party display? That could cause such problems.

No, I don’t have a Victron display unfortunately, I am just using a Raspberry-pi screen to connect to the Cerbo for direct access and that works fine.

The remote console through VRM is now working with the classic UI, but does not work with the new UI. When I try to switch to the new UI it says the devise is not connected to VRM. But VRM is updating as it should.

I do not believe I have any third party software running unless Airstream put something on there?

I am mostly just wanting to be able to use the console remotely on my tablet or laptop. Which I can do now, I just can’t seem to be able to use the new UI, which is not a huge deal.

Thanks!

Disconnect the screen, reboot the gx. Then connect to venus.local from any device browser on your local network.
Settings → display should allow you to change the UI version if it doesn’t automatically prompt you on initial connection.

Probably this one. Can’t tell you how many users complain it seems to be a starlink thing

Hey Nick, thanks for the help. Did what you said but it’s giving me the security profile message again, that’s actually why I went and bought a cheap screen just so I could change that. I’m fine using the classic UI, so I’m going to get back to other things. Thanks again.

Yeah, that’s what I’ve been reading. Starlink can be nice but it can be a pain.

Ok, then you should be able to use the VC app and bluetooth to change it via connecting to the console.
Or on your screen if V1 UI is working, scroll to the bottom, choose settings → general and change the security profile.
You need to have the right access level enabled as well.

Hey Nick,

Sorry for not responding for so long. I’ve been out of pocket for a while. When I get back to the camper I’ll continue working on it.

I really appreciate all the help everyone gives.
