I have had a simple ESS operational for 3 years. MP2 48 / 5000 / 70 // 6 x Pylontech US300C batteries // AC coupled 3.7 kW grid tied solar // DC coupled 2.2 kW Solar charge controller // Cerbo GX. The Victron system can see the grid tied inverter via an ET112, but there is no comms connection. All works very well and meets my needs. I am now having a heat pump installed, and want to increase the size of the storage battery. The Pylontechs are expensive, so I would prefer to add a 280Ah 15S battery box with its own 15S BMS. Is this realistic/sensible and could there be any comms with the GX? If it wouldn’t work well, or is otherwise a dumb thing to do, I will stick with the Pylontechs. Your advice is much appreciated.
The GX can only talk to one BMS, and you can’t interoperate different BMS’s natively.
Pylontech will immediately void your warranty as mixing battery manufacturers is explicitly excluded.
They allow different models to be mixed like 5000’s with 3000’s etc. A far better choice.

Thank you Nick. Appreciate your advice and so quick too! I’ll stick with Pylontech. An additional 5000 will probably be enough.
