Hi All.
Hi All. I would like to charge the bow thruster batteries on a boat with the alternator of the starter battery. Since it is an older alternator (not intelligent), I am asking whether I can also use the Buck_Boost here. In addition, I have seen information somewhere that the charger can also be controlled with the D+ signal. Is this the case and how do I have to wire it? I would be very grateful for any input.
There’s several ways to set them up, I’d suggest downloading the manual off the website and taking a read through it
If you have a decent voltage differential between static voltage and charging voltage (ie 14.5v charging, 13.5v resting, you can use the auto detect feature to turn the unit on/off at ~14v. Alternatively there’s several ways to use a wired source to switch it on/off
Thank you for your answer. Unfortunately, you don’t answer my question directly. So it can be used with a traditional alternator. Yes or Not?
Pin 1 + 2 are, as I understand it, 2 pure relay controls for on/off in series.
What I also noticed is that although you can have a buck-hoost for 100A, it can only utilize 50A in 24V operation. In the specifications for determining the input and output fuses, however, there are also specifications for operation with 100A/24V. What now?
I have also downloaded the software and carried out a simulation. However, I had problems selecting the specific device, because the designations in the software (ts400/800/1600-C2/3 etc,) do not correspond to the Victron device designations.
