Can micro wind turbine be monitored?

Hello,

Im designing a grid connected, three phase system with 3x Quattro II, DC coupled solar, and an AC coupled wind turbine.

As far as I can tell there’s no way for the Victron system to talk to the wind turbine as it does with PV inverters (for example frequency shifting to shut down production when batteries are full)

  • Can I use an AC current clamp to monitor the output of the wind turbine?
  • Would the wind turbine be better connected to the AC Output side of the Victron system? It would then power loads and charge the batteries, once they are full it would export to the grid?

Thanks!

Hi please post a link to the turbine manufacture and i will have a look.

Have a read of this below, might help.
Compatibility with Wind Generator Charge Controllers - DIY - Victron Community (victronenergy.com)

Hi,

I have a similar setup. My wind turbine is AC-coupled with a ABB UNO solar inverter. In order for this to work you need a separate controller with the power curve for the turbine and that overrides the MPPT in the solar inverter. I use one from www.voltsys.com.

The ABB UNO supports frequency shifting the same way as any other solar inverter and you configure this according to standard in Victron. If you add a ethernet comms kit to the ABB UNO you can configure it to show up in Victron as any standard solar inverter.
