Can I use one of the AC inputs on a Quattro 5kw 48v 120vac for ac coupling another pv/inverter?

I would like to add a pv array with a string inverter to connect to my Quattro AC2 in. Any comments?

Have a read of the relevant manuals for the quattro and ac coupling it has all the info you need:

There is excellent free video training at professional.victronenergy.com as well

You provided little detail on your whole setup and requirement.
Of course Victron supports PV inverters on both AC in and OUT, OUT generally preferred.

The AC inputs on a Quattro cannot be used simultaneously, edited from the manual:

AC-in-1
If AC voltage is present on these terminals, the Quattro will use this connection. Generally a generator will be connected to AC-in-1. An appropriate and readily accessible disconnect device shall be incorporated in the fixed wiring

AC-in-2
If AC voltage is present on these terminals, the Quattro will use this connection, unless voltage is also present on AC-in-1. The Quattro will then automatically select AC-in-1. Generally the mains supply or shore voltage will be connected to AC-in-2

As Nick said, I would suggest you put the string inverter on the output side of the Quattro so that it will stay up and running with or without the grid. You would need the PV Assistant configured in the Quattro to do that. You will also need an energy meter to properly account for solar production from the PV inverter if you backfeed the Quattro. If you put it on the input side of the Quattro then the PV inverter will stop w/o a grid source. But, maybe that’s what you want.

Your local Victron dealer can assist you with the design.
