I have a Victron-based power system installed in 2018, which includes:
Quattro 10,000 VA inverter/charger
BYD B-Box battery system (2x4 model = 8 modules total)
Configured as a UPS for a small home
Recently, we decided to add solar power to the system. We installed 12 solar panels (340W each) connected to a SmartSolar MPPT 250/70, wired as three strings into one tracker. The SmartSolar was connected to the CCGX via VE.Direct.
Initially, the CCGX displayed the solar voltage, but always showed 0A charging current.
To troubleshoot, we performed a factory reset on the CCGX and updated the firmware to version 3.55. After the reset:
The BYD battery is no longer visible on the CCGX
The MPPT still does not charge, only showing the solar voltage but no current
What could be causing this issue, and how can we fix it?
Have a look at Settings > Services VE.Can port and make sure it is on the profile you require
for my B-Box Pro 13.8 kW it is set to…
Once the profile is correct, yours may be different, you may need to look it up, you may also need to restart, and possibly Redetect the system.
To redetect… Inverter device from device list > Advanced…
You can reboot the GX from Device List > Settings > General
It could be something else, probably many things, but my bet is the default can profile not being appropriate. I am assuming the battery is On right? there is a reset/start-up button on the BMS, or its com module, honestly I forget where but it is obvious on my system.
Victron / BYD dock are good if you cant see it or are not sure!
Once you have the battery back online, have a look at the config of the solar, and how that is set up. On my system the BYD BMS forces DVCC on..
My smart solar reports this…
I do not know if these settings are appropriate for your system but it is similar to my kit.
At the very least I hope these will give you some thinks/directions to look at.
Hope that helps, sorry I cant be specific.
