I’m not using the dynamic prices option for my country because I need to apply custom formulas depending on the time of day.
When I manually fill in the DESS prices, everything works fine with hourly or half-hourly intervals — the prices are applied correctly, and the graphs look as expected.
However, when I switch to quarter-hour intervals, the DESS prices don’t work properly anymore. The graphs become messed up and don’t match the prices I’ve entered.
I’m writing here to ask if anyone else has noticed this issue and if it’s already been reported as a bug.
I am having issue when i set quaterly hour prices with Tibber in the netherlands that the buy and sell pricediffer. It looks like on VRM sell price is still hourly but buy price is quaterly. It makes DESS behave strange. Should i change the formula. Please help.
For example, I can only set fixed prices every half hour or each hour. If I try to set fixed prices for the entire day in quarter-hour intervals, the VRM gets completely messed up like you said. I think it imports hourly prices instead of quarter-hour prices.
I’m bumping this topic because I still have the issue and haven’t found a workaround.
I’m not using the dynamic prices option for my country, as I need to apply custom pricing formulas depending on the time of day.
When I manually enter DESS prices with hourly or half-hour intervals (48 values per day), everything works as expected:
Prices are applied correctly
VRM graphs look correct
DESS behaves normally
However, as soon as I switch to quarter-hour intervals, things break.
What I’m seeing:
Quarter-hour DESS prices are not applied correctly
The VRM graphs become messed up and don’t reflect the values I entered
If I first configure all 48 half-hour slots and then manually change just one value (for example setting 00:00–00:15), all DESS/VRM values become inconsistent
This makes me suspect there may be a bug or hard limit around 48 time slots, and that quarter-hour pricing (96 values per day) isn’t being handled correctly in DESS / VRM.
At the moment I need half-hour resolution at minimum, but quarter-hour manual pricing simply isn’t usable.
Has anyone else observed this behavior?
Is quarter-hour manual pricing officially supported?
Has this already been reported as a bug?
Any confirmation or guidance from Victron or other users would be appreciated.
For starters, you mention you cannot use the Dynamic price setting because of a fluctuating formula throughout the day. We did add a setting for time-based formulas, so maybe that helps you out. You can find it under the advanced buy (or sell) price settings.
I’ll see if I can reproduce your bug with the fixed 15 minute prices. If you could share with me (here or in DM) the installation ID from the url of your site, then I can check out specifically where it goes wrong in your case.
Thank you for your reply and for pointing out the time-based formula setting under the advanced buy/sell price options — I appreciate it.
Unfortunately, in my country the formula is different not only throughout the day, but it also changes specifically for certain hours on Saturday and Sunday. That’s where I’m running into difficulties.
Would it be possible to implement different formula configurations for weekdays, Saturday, and Sunday separately? That would completely solve my problem.
I will send you the installation ID shortly. Please also note that I am currently working with fixed half-hour slots and nodered scripts to fill this fixed slots as soon as the tomorrow prices are available. However, I can easily reproduce the quarter-hour slots bug for you if needed.
How can i share with you by DM the installation ID?
Yes, Saturday and Sunday do not follow the same schedule, and they also have different schedules for winter and summer time. For now, simply having Saturday and Sunday separated would already solve my problem and improve my system behaviour.
Do you have any estimated timeline for when this change might be implemented?
