Bug report: Unable to activate temperature compensation on Orion XS 1400 with iOS

Our customer reported to us they where unable to change the Temperature Compensation setting with his new Orion XS 1400.

We did a test on our testbench with both Android and Iphone (latest software installed on Orion XS 1400 and latest software on Victron Connect V2.61) and noticed the following:

After activating Battery preset: User defined on Android there were no issue activating, changeing Temperature compensation and ok the setting.

After activating Battery preset: User defined on Iphone we where able to active Temperature compensation, however the values where highlighted in red and ok was greyed out, the settings where not abled to get confirmated.

The test has been performed both by us and the customer, all in all 3 different Iphones and 3 Android models.

We’ll look into it.

Can you let us know if battery voltage is set to 12V or 24V?

Which battery temperature compensation value you are trying to set?

Does it work with the -/+ buttons, or does show in red as well?

Thank you

  1. Battery voltage was set to 24v at customer, both where tested on our testbench.
  2. 32,4 mV/C, but they need to test and probably change it during there testruns.
  3. The red highlighted text was only pressent during negative values, regardes of using the +/- buttons or not.

I think I know what could be happening.

Somehow a wrong negative symbols is being used. Could you please try to remove the minus symbol from the value and type it again but making sure that the “short” one is used? See the screenshots.

Also wold be nice if you can share a screenshot of the value showing in red so we can check what could make the text field to do not accept the input.

I do not have any screenshot unfortunaly, but I asked my customer to test if it worked if he changed the negative symbol and it did indeed solve the issue!

However, this was present as standard as both my colleague and our customer activated the function, so i figure this will be fixed for iOS users in code in future Victron Connect updates?

Anyways, thank you so much for the quick response and help

Thank you for the confirmation!

Yes it will be somehow fixed, not in next official release but on a later one. Making changes on the user input is something that requires some deep testing.
