Brief Page losing setting

I have Brief Page level 1 set to an Individual Battery (EB) and it does not “stick”.. sometimes it would display correctly, often not. I have not been able to find a pattern with the issue. [Maybe found it, see comments at end.. read on..]

Now just updated to Beta Firmware v3.60~71 (Update now v3.60~72 same issues) and now cannot get it to work at all. No other changes from prior version.

Update 1
I went into Settings > General > Modification Checks and saw that /rcS.local was active. I think this might be a leftover from GuiMods which I was using before the new UI. I flipped the “All Modifications Enabled” to OFF and rebooted. It now shows LiBat EB on the Brief Page correctly. I do need NodeRED and Signal K though.. so will continue to test and update results here.
Side note, I don’t know how to remove /rcS.local or if I even should

Update 2
Well, on further testing, that was not the problem. I decided to change the order of the levels, and then went back to my original order and Poof.. no more EB (battery) display. I’m right back to the same problem.

Update 3
I have been trying multiple combinations of changes in the Brief Page settings, rebooting, turning on and off Modifications, etc.. and the LiBat EB level display is still not working… and then it does. I am beginning to think it is a Timing issue of when things load on reboot.

This is because before the /rcS.local disappeared when I turned Modifications off, and then back on again. But now when I turned them back on a third time /rcS.local is back.. and the LiBat EB level is showing. It has to be something semi-random causing it not to load correctly.. like timing or a pointer going astray. As they say “HELP” I’m at a loss

Alan, I had an issue a few revision back. I found the list appeared to have an index issue. Try selecting further down in the list, then back to the selection you want.

Thanks Paul, I will give that a try.
But it just did something VERY interesting.. It was displaying correctly when I peeked at it waiting for your reply (saw you were typing).. and then looked again just a moment ago. I have done literally nothing and Poof.. it’s gone again. I hate unrepeatable issues (I’m retired Software Dev).

Are you attempting to get battery info to display with 4 gauges? It’s my understanding that the center data is disabled with 4?

Yep, and it does display (sometimes) at level 1 where I want it. I’m doing that because if I use the Center, it just says 100% with no ID of what the 100% is  But at level 1 it Id’s it.

When it works:

This is the battery (LiBat EB) when I use it in center, which works if there are only 3 levels active. Of course it doesn’t say what the 100% is for.. which for me is important, as I’m not the only one who has to read the display (and my SO is not tech oriented, or inclined to remember things.. so labels are important!!)

I’m inclined to say that I really Don’t like the Circles on the New UI, they take up a LOT of space and are just not quite functional as they could be. It should allow for all 4 levels AND the center to work. Just straight bar graphs like the old UI is much more space efficient.

I would prefer all 4 of my tank levels and the battery SOC in the center, that would make for a perfect Brief for my application. I feel it might be heading that way, but it’s lower priority.

Now I spend most of my time on the Overview. If we had the option to add voltage display to the smart shunts, I could see all 3 batteries in my coach from there.

I agree, it should be at least the 4 levels AND center (with the center info ID’d with it’s name).
I’m looking to have:
:black_small_square: LiBat EB (main battery)
:black_small_square: Fresh Water
:black_small_square: Waste Water
:black_small_square: Diesel Fuel (I have Diesel tank for heating only)
with Ambient (Outdoor) Temp in the Middle.
That would be my ideal.

If they just moved the TIME and WiFi signal to a better place, there would be plenty of room I suspect. But they do a lot more reporting at a glance with straight Bars..

For example (once the levels work right):

Nice use case with the diesel heater. I don’t have any connection to heating or cooling in my coach, it’s all energy related. Although my roof fans could be automated…hmmm.

Update on Issue. Found what seems to be the snag. The Cerbo GX is actually showing the Proper display, but the Desktop/Android is not. It is still intermittent problem, but strikes me that the Data transmitted to VRM Remote Console or the VRM programming is what is messing up.

Also, IF I leave the Desktop version of the Remote Console on for a long time I eventually get a msg about the System running on Battery. When I ACK this msg, the display then shows the correct display / or the incorrect display… depending on where it started from. It really seems to be data not being sent properly sometimes, and nothing double checking the transmission. Makes me not want to trust the VRM.

Taken side by side Cerbo GX (correct display) and Desktop (not showing battery)
