BlueSmart IP65 Samsung S20 firmware update BUG SOLVED

The solution is to stop all background apps on the phone! This can be done by pressing the !!! screen button (lower left), then tap the # active in background text at the top, and stop them all. Essentially one wants as little as possible competing for CPU time with the Victron Connect App during a firmware update.

Just found that updating the BlueSmart IP65 12/15 firmware from a Samsung S20 Android phone failed every time mid-update.

Both chargers were inoperable afterward. However, using a Samsung S10 phone instead worked – Although both chargers had an update fail message at about 93% despite the firmware update actually being successful

I’ve used this same Samsung S20 phone for earlier updates without issue, and both phones software are up to date.

Any ideas? Can an Admin here report this to Victron?

Glad you recovered them.

What version of android is on the S20?
What version of Victron Connect are you using?

Android 13 with One UI 5.1 and Victron Connect v6.14.

I was pretty happy afterward, not so much initially!

The solution is posted above, in the first post for quick access!

I have three IP65 BlueSmart chargers, and successfully tested this method on the remaining charger needing a firmware update.
