Blue Smart Charger takes over the SBS’s function

I have a Blue Smart Charger IP22, an SBS for the leisure battery and an MPP Smart solar controller.
Until now, everything had always worked very well and both charge controllers had been synchronised with the SBS. That has no longer been the case for the past three days; the solar controller still is, though.
As soon as I integrate my IP22 into the VE Smart Network, it takes over and switches off the MPP, or takes control.

For the most part, unless you need low temp cut off or you have some massive voltage drop over the cable (which should be fixed with a proper instal anyway), there is no need for a smart network at all.

Your batteries are showing absorption at 13.2 though, that pretty low. What batteries do you have?

I have lithium batteries installed. I’m currently at a campsite, and my settings were intended to prioritise solar, with Ip 22 when there’s little sunshine. My battery shouldn’t be charged fully all the time either.

Which devices are connected to the same VE.Smart Network?

I used the preset settings for LiFePO4 (14.2/13.5 V) on all the devices.

Klaus 230 V and Klaus Solar are connected to the SBS leisure battery.

It worked until a week ago, though. The SBS provides the battery voltage for both devices, and I can set different minimum voltages on both chargers.

Of course, you can set the voltage to almost any value you like.

But there were also several friendly reminders here that the voltage is too low for standard lithium.

The voltage from the solar system is set higher.
However, my current concern is that the 230 V charger apparently hasn’t communicated with the SBS for a short while, or is switching off the solar controller.

They don’t have control over each other. The smart network only shares Information.
The SBS does not have current sensing so it is only voltage and temperature shared.
If anything it is settings on the individual devices

Ah, so you are the type of lithium user that does not want to fully charge the batteries. Ok.

Well put simply, They have then reached their target charged voltages.
Both devices are in absorption that is a low amperage voltage holding state.

Another words no production for solar as there is no need to produce.

You would have to raise solar charged voltage at least 0.3/4 above the ip22 to make the solar produce and change the rebulk off set (float to the same as the absorption)

I have set it up exactly as you describe. This worked until recently, even when both chargers were connected to the SBS leisure battery via the V E Smart Network. However, it stopped working a few days ago. As long as the 230 V charger is connected to the SBS, the solar charger no longer charges. If I disconnect the 230 V charger from the V E Smart Network, the solar charger starts charging again.

Isn’t it advisable not to charge lithium batteries fully all the time? I’m currently staying at a campsite for 14 days and am connected to the mains. My power consumption is low, so the batteries only discharge a little.
I’m asking because in your first sentence you write: oh, so you’re one of those who charges his lithium…….

From personal experience and others I have seen in the field over time. Idon’t agree with it. Cycling is cycling regardless of where in the battery SOC or voltage range. And then there is all the fiddling and issues that result from trying to avoid fully charging etc.

There are very polarised schools of thought on it. I don’t care much for the debates on it. And it is your battery, you can treat it as you want to.

The difference is now you are plugged in.
