I just had someone install a Battery Protect for me into a 24v AGM system, and instead of running the supplied ground wire to the negative battery terminal he ran it into my Victron 150/60 MPPT Charge Controller battery- port. (Note: It is just a charge controller, no inverter). The instructions say not to connect that cable to any other equipment. So I’m a little concerned. I asked him about it and he said it was fine. So is that correct? Do you think it ok for it to terminate in the charge controller batter negative?
The BP cannot tolerate reverse currents! That’s why it must be wired exactly as specified in the manual!

He intertwined in a ferrule with the battery cable.
That’s shoddy workmanship if the supply voltage is taken like that and the connection heats up/can heat up! Quite apart from the fact that this can distort the regulator’s measurement.
He obviously does electrical on the side… lol. My husband set up this system but recently passed away. I don’t know much about Solar or electrical, but I want to keep the system running, so I’m just now learning about it. It is impossible to find people who know how to install off grid Solar systems in my area… so I was kind of desperate. So I guess I need to find someone to disconnect it. PS: He did this because the system does not have a neg bus bar, and the provided cable was too short. I think Victron should supply a longer cable for this device. Thank you for your help!

I am also going to nitpick and ask why a red cable (usually denoting positive) is stuck in with a negative cable (usually black)
