I am looking for some advice creating assistants in VEConfigure for my MultiPlus 12/3000/120.
In my camper the Multiplus’ AC-OUTPUT-2 circuit is connected (only) to my ac/dc refrigerator and I would prefer for this relay to be OFF when my (1000W) portable generator is in use, and ON when I am connected to shore power. Note that there is no external transfer switch between the generator and the MultiPlus. Instead of a transfer switch I use a manual SPST toggle switch to inform the Digital Multi Control GX that the generator is in use, and it sets the max current from the generator accordingly (in my case <6 Amps). I have had the system configured this way for several years and it works as expected.
I want to program the MultiPlus to open the AC-OUT-2 relay whenever I manually close the Generator Support (aka. “external transfer switch”) terminals on the backside of of the DMC GX. Unfortunately, the Generator Support status from the DMC GX is not an available “Switch condition” in VEConfigure ![]()
Is there a clever way to inform the MultiPlus that the Generator Support feature is enabled?
- Could I, for example, use the SAME contacts on the SPST switch (a suitable DPST switch doesn’t appear to be readily available) that I have connected to the DMC GX’s rear terminals to close the AUX1 input terminals on the MultiPlus, and then use the AUX1 status (“Auxiliary input 1 is closed/open for X seconds”) to start/stop the Assistant???
- Would it be better and/or necessary to use a double-pole relay instead of having the DMC and AUX1connected to the same switch terminals?
- Can this only be done with a dedicated SPST switch to close the AUX 1 terminals?
- Is there a better way to do this??
Please confirm that my Assistant logic is correctly structured (see photo).
Attached are images of: 1) How I think the Assistants need to be structured in VEConfigure 2) My “Generator Support” switch with Digital Multi Control GX. 3) An overall view of my electrical installation.
Any advice would be appreciated!
