I have a new Cerbo GX (mk2) and have tried to add this to my existing VRM installation (which was based on a Globallink 520) but it has created a new installation called Cerbo GX. Is there a way to have both devices in one VRM page
I have not tried with a globalink.
The normal replacement procedure for a GX is done in the vrm under more- settings - general - scroll to the bottom - click replace the gx in this installation - follow the instructions there
LX,
Many thanks for your post. I have read that the 520 and Cerbo GX are not compatible, so presumably I need to have 2 VRM pages, one based on each. To connect the Cerbo to VRM I am considering a WiFi hotspot with SIM card. The 520 will continue to use LTE-M.
Another thought is does anyone know the SIM card data requirements for the Cerbo GX to update the VRM. Currently set to every 15 minutes, would 500MB a month be enough? Angus
For logging yes. If you are accessing the remote console over VRM it can eat up a bit.
Make sure that your auto updates are off as well.
LX,
It was just for logging. If accessing VRM that would be on my phone. Many thanks for reminder about auto updates:-)
Angus
You can’t have two GX devices managing a site.
One or the other.
Q9: Can I use the GlobalLink with a GX device (e.g Cerbo GX)
No, it is impossible to use a GlobalLink with a GX device.
The GlobalLink is intended to be used instead of a GX device to connect one or two supported VE.Direct devices directly to VRM via the built-in LTE-M connection. Data will be sent straight to the VRM portal, no GX device is required.
You cannot connect the GlobalLink directly to a GX device, it is designed to connect to the supported VE.Direct devices (such as BMV or MPPT) directly. If you would like to connect your GX device to a 4G network use the GX LTE 4G instead.
From its manual.
Many thanks, I can see that now. I will still use the Cerbo GX onboard for tank sensors and some other tasks and keep the BMV and solar MPPT with the GlobalLink. Unfortunately the LTE-M signal is a bit unreliable in Western Scotland.
