#67 BMS connection lost

Good afternoon, everyone.

The error #67 BMS connection lost keeps appearing and disappearing. I have the JK V19 BMS correctly connected to the Cerbo GX.

From what I’ve seen, I think this is what’s happening: when the battery stops charging or discharging (mainly first thing in the morning and late in the day), the BMS goes into sleep mode and loses communication.

In the JK control interface, I have “Smart sleep On” disabled. Vol Smart Sleep is set to 3.5V and Time Smart Sleep to 24h.

So far, I haven’t noticed any negative effects on the equipment, but it’s annoying to keep seeing an error.

Do you think this could affect the installation in any way?
What values do you think I should set on the JK to prevent this error?
Is there another way to fix it?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, I’m experiencing the same problems. The CAN bus communication, which normally works perfectly between the Cerbo GX MK2 (firmware 3.80) and the JK BMS (hardware v19, firmware 19.34), stops as soon as the battery system is charged to around 99–100% SOC. The battery stays charged, or the weekly balancing cycle takes it to 100%. I’ve tried all sorts of things, but I’m stuck. The cabling is OK; I’ve tried it with and without terminators… and switched the master BMS (three units in a parallel system). The parameter you mentioned is set to 3.000 V on mine, but the sleep function is turned off.

A question best asked of JK. If the BMS faults (overcharging?) it will disconnect.
Way too many issues being reported here about this BMS.

Hello Nick

Thanks for the tip. However, as soon as a setting on the Cerbo is changed from “keep batteries charged” to a “normal charge/discharge” state, the BMS reappears — in other words, communication is restored. I can’t tell whether the BMS is at fault, as it doesn’t necessarily need to have reached the voltage corresponding to 100% SoC yet. So there’s no reason for communication to stop. The TX frames stall on the CAN bus, while RX is fine. This would actually point to a problem with the Cerbo GX.

Keep charged adds a charge voltage offset, iirc, so that makes sense. Probably just pushes the BMS over a limit.
Just a theory.

Thanks for the tip. Is that a parameter that can be adjusted for testing?

You can lower the managed battery charge voltage in dvcc as a test.

If I set the JK Time Smart Sleep parameter to 0, in theory the BMS wouldn’t enter sleep mode and wouldn’t lose communication. But I don’t know whether this could have any other effects.
Can anyone advise?
