Cerbo GX MK2 VE.Direct

Hello All,

I’m working on a boat system with:

  • Two SmartSolar MPPT 100/30
  • Two Orion XS 12/12-50A
  • Three SmartShunt 300A

If I was to add a Cerbo GX MK2 with a GX Touch 70, can I successfully combine the seven VE.Direct connections?

I have seen third party devices. Are they reliable?

There are a few suggestions here.

Many of the DIY cables are not isolated and can cause errors due to ground loops in the system such as inaccurate voltage and current readings on a SmartShunt. Isolation between USB and the VE.Direct port is highly recommended.

Besides the Victron cables, there is a 4-port USB adapter:

A hub can be used to add to Cerbo’s USB ports. Generally, powered hubs are recommended. There are many available that can be powered from DC power which is a good idea for a Victron system to avoid loss of comms should AC power go down.
