3-Phase Victron Powerhouse: 15kVA MultiPlus-II + 32kWh DIY Battery Setup with ESS-Green Mode

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share my recent 3-phase storage build with the community! The goal of this installation was to build a robust, scalable 3-phase home battery system integrated with dynamic energy tariffs (if needed in 2027). I got inspired by RobbertDIY, Harold Halewijn and Off-Grid garage on YouTube. Used this community to build and get the technical details from Victron. Here is a breakdown of the build:

Core Power Infrastructure

  • Inverters/Chargers: 3x Victron MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70-50 configured in a 3-phase topology.

  • System Monitoring & Control: Cerbo GX MK2 running Dynamic ESS (dESS) in Green Mode.

  • Custom Display: Dedicated custom 7" touchscreen connected to Cerbo GX.

DC Distribution & Protection

  • DC Bus: Victron Lynx Power In (M10) converted to a fused distribution bus.

  • Fusing & Safety: Mix of Victron and Adler EF3 high-interrupting fuses on all critical DC runs.

  • Battery Monitoring: SmartShunt 500A/50mV integrated directly into the GX system.

Battery Energy Storage (BESS)

  • Enclosure: Fench Energy MB56 custom battery cabinet.

  • Cells: 16x MB56 628Ah LiFePO4 cells configured in 16S (~32kWh gross capacity).

  • BMS: JK-BMS with active balancing, integrated via CAN/RS485 into the GX platform.

Software & Operation

  • Dynamic ESS: Operating in Green Mode to optimize charge/discharge schedules for site consumption patterns.

Feedback, questions, or suggestions are always welcome! Happy to share details on the Lynx conversion or the JK-BMS setup if anyone is planning a similar DIY build. PV system is an Enphase, 8,5 KW over 3 phases.

Cheers! (from Brabant)

Enphase Power Graph before implementation.

Enphase Power Graph AFTER implementation where there is no power returned to the grid but stored in battery instead.

The dc cables to the battery are (to much) exposed, they could damaged over time and cause short circuit.. the shortcirciut current of your battery is enormous, the small Victron fuse wil just explode.

Fench batteries… when I go to their website nothing is available, also no pricing. In Europe batteries are in short supply, especially those from EVE.

Those Adler ef3 fuses do have a newly discovered problem; they blow realy slow, they are suitable for full short-circuit protection but not for overload protection.

Fuses from Jean Muller could be ideal, but are expensive.

Hi there, welcome to the community!

Great setup you got there. Did you put the Enphase at the ac-out or ac-in side of the Multi plus?
And what is the diameter of the dc cable going to the batteries if i may ask?

Greetings from Enschede

Enphase was already part of my installation and so connected to AC Out1. I have used 70mm2 Cabels for DC (crimpt by accunoord.nl) and 6mm2 for AC.

We use gBat fuses and the main reason is that they will be part of the new requirements in the Netherlands and you want insurers to cover catastrophic events.

For this you also need two emergency stop buttons. One right next to the setup and one in your homes central meter cabinet.

Plus connected heat/smoke and a hydrogen detector that’ll disconnect the inverters and batteries.

Also. How’s the ventilation in that room? You probably also need a high pressure suction fan for this as well..

Another thing. How far away is your central meter cabinet? Is all wiring 6mm2?

Are you referring to the PGS37-2? Or is there already a new list of rules for NL

Your Recommendations are right, would be my advice too for an install like this!

Yes indeed PGS37-1 (PGS37-2 is for storing batteries) and I am referring to Verbond Van Verzekeraars.
