26.88 kWp Single Phase ESS UK

Here is a project designed and installed by ourselves at AspeyEnergy. The customer was end of line and suffered from frequent power cuts so was looking for a system that could provide backup.

64 x 420w REC Pure Alpha R Black Panels
2 x SmartSolar MPPT RS 450/200 Charge Controllers
1 x Quattro 48/8000/200
2 x 15.4kWh BYD LVL

Last year the solar generated 5202 kWh of energy resulting in the customer being 64% self sufficient for the year. It also provided backup for his house for the 16 power cuts he experienced.

Very clean installation, but why only use one disconnect on the triple knife disconnect for the Quattro?

Thank you. So that each of the Victron pieces of kit can be isolated separately. Also NH1 & NH2 holders for different size fuses.

Yes I know but there are unipolar NH2s, like your NH1s. From my point of view you could have taken advantage of this to protect the negative cable… Too bad

We do a fair few 3 phase and parallel units where your not supposed to fuse the negative. In this setup we could of fused it. However the fuse on the + is sufficient. Certainly something to bare in mind on the next one.

I allowed myself this reflection because in France the 2 poles must OBLIGATORILY have a disconnector

And it is recommended by Victron to leave the negative pole directly connected. Because of potential bonding maybe ?
