Any information on correct wiring shematic/components for this set up?
Installed on Pantech moving truck- starting & Aux batteries obviously connected to Alterator 80-100amps.
24v 1000w solar Array w/ 32a isolator switch
Mppt 100/50
wired to Aux batteries (2×Delkor 31-1000cca 100ah flooded Lead Acid)
Can this be permanently ON to charge even when truck is running?
Or do i require additional components?
Thanks in advance for any assistance, greatly appreciated.
Hi, is there anything isolating your starting and auxiliary batteries? This might cause flow both ways from the alternator and mppt or drain either sets of batteries when you wouldn’t want them to?
You are charging a 24v Battery bank without anything isolating your system from you 12v Starting batteries. Besides what @JakesNell mentioned Re: the discharging of your starting batteries, you also have a major issue trying to combine a 12v and 24v battery bank.
You should have an Automatic charging relay (marine type) fitted between the 2 sets of batteries to isolate them when charging is off. @sahmdahn The starter battery is also 24v - 2x12v in series…
Hi Sean,
Both battery banks are 24v.
There is a Redarc isolation relay between battery banks.
Relay opens when vehicle is started to charge both battery banks.
BTW, yes, the solar can be left on all the time. If the relay can detect the volt rise in the tail lift battery, then it can also keep the start battery charged.
