12 V Charger High Output (20V)

Hello,

I have a Centaur 12V 60Amp AC DC Charger that is showing an output of 20V when charging at the batteries and has cooked all 6 batteries. Could this be a failed charger/regulator (is it internal?) or could it be a few bad batteries that started the problem?

My theory was if a few batteries went dead then the charger may try to overcompensate and send a higher voltage?

sounds like internal fail of voltage regulation / feedback. Not to familiar with this charger. Does it have any remote voltage sensing?
Remove to bench and test with no load.
