XS1400 DC/DC Mode – Premature Shutdown due to In-rush Currents

We are currently utilizing the XS1400 in Power DC/DC Mode and are encountering issues with the overcurrent protection sensitivity.

Technical Specifications:

  • Input Voltage: 24 VDC

  • Output Voltage: 12 VDC (Max. 20 A)

  • Load Setup: The output is connected to a relay box controlling various peripherals.

Issue Description:

While the XS1400 operates reliably under steady-state conditions, the DC/DC output shuts down immediately as soon as a relay in the external box closes. Although the static load is relatively small (approx. 1 A), the transient in-rush current during the switching process triggers the device’s safety cutoff. Tests with an electronic load system have confirmed this behavior.

Troubleshooting Performed:

We have attempted to resolve the issue via the app by adjusting various parameters, including increasing the maximum current limit. Unfortunately, these changes have not prevented the shutdown during peak transients.

  1. Is there a specific setting to adjust the sensitivity or response time of the overcurrent protection to tolerate short-term in-rush peaks?

  2. Can the device be configured to a “Constant Current” mode instead of a hard shutdown when a peak is detected?

  3. Are there recommended software configurations to better handle inductive or capacitive loads in DC/DC mode?

Thank you in advance for your technical assistance.
