Orion XS 1400 (Power Supply mode) briefly resets (1–2s) when another parallel load switches on (same

Hi all,
I’m seeing a repeatable issue with a Victron Orion XS 1400 used in Power Supply mode (running the latest firmware).

What happens

Whenever any other load is switched ON on the same battery bank, the Orion XS output drops/resets for ~1–2 seconds, then recovers and continues normally.

This happens regardless of Orion output load:

  • Orion output at ~5 A → still resets

  • Orion output at ~40 A → still resets

Setup / settings

  • Battery bank: Solid State Marine, resting/operating around 16.5 V

  • Orion XS mode: Power Supply

  • Output voltage set to: 14.4 V

  • Lockout voltage set to: 11.0 V

  • Firmware: latest available installed

  • Cabling battery → Orion XS:

    • Length: ~1.5 m

    • Size: 16 mm²

  • Loads are connected in parallel on the same battery bank.

Loads that trigger it (examples)

  1. Orion-Tr 12/24 10A (connected to the same battery in parallel)

    • Typically draws about 5 A on the input (12 V side)
  2. Light bar

    • Draws about 25 A

Switching either of these on causes the Orion XS to reset for 1–2 seconds.

Question

Has anyone seen this behavior with the Orion XS 1400 in power supply mode?
Could this be:

  • a brief input voltage dip / inrush issue,

  • a protection trigger (undervoltage/overcurrent),

  • a wiring/grounding sensitivity,

  • or something specific to the Solid State Marine battery/BMS behavior at 16.5 V?

Any troubleshooting tips (extra input capacitance, different lockout values, remote sense, wiring changes, recommended fuse/busbar layout, etc.) would be appreciated.

Thanks!

This could be a volt drop issue, due to inrush current of the connected load.
Do check that all electrical connections from the battery to bus are clean and tight.
It may be possible to get an indication of a volt drop issue by using an AC voltmeter across the battery bank / busbar.
Other than that, you would need a common mode filter on the input to the XS1400.
