Cable sizing

I am about to install the phoenix 24/5000. in the manual it says in 4.2 to use 2x50mm^2 if 0-5m and 2x90mm^2 cable if 5-10m. this seems to be huge steps. surely it makes a difference if the cable run is 0.5m or 9m! Do i blindly follow the manual, or do i follow my cable sizing calculator.
it seems like Victron simply ONLY gave the correct sizing for 5m (100mm^2) and 10m (180mm^2).
or do i have things wrong in my head…
thanks for your input

It does make a difference in performance and efficiency even on the shorter runs to use the correct gauge.in the manual (I experiment).

As an FYI the 5m and 10m refers to return trip length - so it’s not as long as you imagine it is.

The recommended cable sizes are also sized to minimise ripple voltage and are larger than voltage drop would alone requires, plenty of cases where people have used smaller cables to then get ripple voltage alarms.
