I want to charge a Kepworth 300ah lifepo4 battery from my alternator, I’m thinking of buying the Victron Smart BMS CL 12/100 but I’ve been told it might not be compatible, I don’t want to damage the battery and it’s a waste if money if it doesn’t work, can anybody let me know if it will work?

The Victron BMSs need Victron batteries plugged in to the communication ports of the BMS to make them work. If they do not have Victron battery communication cables plugged in then they will not charge because they sense an error.
There have been reports from some members that if you get a Victron communication cable and plug this into both communication terminals then this fools the BMS and it can charge from an alternator. There will be no protection though. I have not done this myself so can not guarantee it. You might buy the kit and find it does not work and waste the money.
