Hi, we try set the expectation in our guidelines that the community is not a support or ask Victron site. It is a mixed community of enthusiasts, installers etc who volunteer their time to try help members to help themselves.
Formal support is provided by the distributor of the products, which can be found by following the support link in the guidelines.
Ultimately for installation or DIY help, this would outside of the remit of support where typically an installer would help you, or an experienced supplier should provide some guidance.
Few problems are new, most have already been asked and answered here on on the community or archive, which can be found by searching, or googling, in the case of the archive.
This community section is for providing feedback , or reporting issues, on the community forum, or Victron website etc
I am not new to Victron, and I have around 50 + installations.
I have most of your equipment installed - as I like to promote the complete suite to my customers
I have obviously asked my supplier about the issue – but they where not able to assist.
As I am an installer and think that I know the Victron equipment well – and then when I pick up an issue that it did not expect, and I know that my suppliers would not be able to assist - I try to get help from the community. As this is not normal behaviour of the system to only turn on when I unplug a cable – I am hoping for some expert assistance.
I you want to point me to an expert that can help it would be greatly appreciated.
I had a look at the case you presented. But that is not a solution.
Hi, fully appreciate that, though it was not clear from the topic, it sounded like an issue with your own system.
Any installer should be able to ask for L3 access via their chosen distie, be it Herholdts or the various others.
If you get stuck here, that is the best path.
The mod team will tend to escalate as well if the issue seems to be broader or something new, but we simply can’t do that for every query.
It is extremely difficult to help over the internet as we cannot see what has or hasn’t been done - topics rarely include all the detail, and when they do, you would be surprised how often it is reported what a user thinks the config is vs what it actually is. So it can be frustrating for everyone.
With Victron staff being active here, it creates an impression that they will always leap onto a longstanding topic, but there is simply no guarantee someone will respond. There are just too many topics and too little time.
I can see that Guy did reply on that topic yesterday.
So, hopefully you get to the bottom of it.
Good luck.
