What have they done to VRM

Fair point but also keep in mind this is a feature of the product ecosystem and often part of the purchasing decision and as we all know nothing is free. It is built into the cost of the product.

Companies like Apple and Victron “give away” some intangibles that bring people to them and retain them because those giveaways enhance the product and make them sticky, retaining their customers over generations of product.

The service is as if not more valuable than the product.

Yes Nick, there’s certainly dedication and effort being put into the fix. I am sure that most are appreciative of that effort. Even if a little put out by the inconvenience.

I certainly appreciate their effort.

VRM is quite a unique platform, I am not sure that many understand how many moving parts it has.

One underperforming cog can have quite an impact on the larger machine.

VRM has grown tremendously in capability, functionality and size and I know the team work hard to stay ahead of things.

Major issues are rare, and there isn’t a cloud platform out there with 100% uptime, it just isn’t how things work unfortunately.

If anything I have taken away from seeing how Victron and their partners work, it is how they are constantly working to improve and avoid repeats.

I see Barbara opened a more focused topic in Q&A and that the system is (hopefully) now normalising.

That is an underestimation of your customer base on your end  :hugs:

Considering the vast majority of topics classified as expert and professional when all indications are to the contrary, I would suggest Dunning-Kruger applies.

Are you a mensa member as well @nickdb ?

Grabs popcorn to see this “something” measuring contest…

No this is all good, no worries. (That said, … is … than … )
Anyway, some comic relief is justified today… Victron crew has most surely worked their asses off the last 48 hours, and pulled off a master feat getting us all back online and back in business. Congrats team Victron!
Dunning–Kruger effect - Wikipedia

Beste kandidaat,

Jouw resultaten van de Mensa-thuistest(*) waren heel erg goed en wij denken daarom dat er een grote kans is dat jouw intelligentieniveau voldoet aan de Mensatoelatingsnorm.

Not so special I guess, or maybe I am not as dumb as I think I am

I’m sure it means at least you are not suffering from Dunning-Kruger effect.

Nick, I agree with your comments around cloud platforms. In most cases the issue could result from one or more probable failures between source and end target/user. Simply put there are many possible points of failure. It does not necessarily have to be a cloud issue. Speaking to Warwick Smith-Chandler a few months ago we discussed InfluxDB/Grafana. Is this database system mature enough and scalable to cater for the growing traffic volumes and are the servers serving data requests sized for future growth.

There are 9 statements in here: 7 of them I agree with, 1 of them I found silly and has been adressed above, leaves 1 statement I disagree with:

“it just isn’t how things work unfortunately.”

I will refrain for now arguing this, that is not my job. I make myself available to Victron as well as her customer base to awnser questions on the topic of “why” I find this statement “complete nonsensical” and “how” I would propose a better solution.

26th of September 2025 and I’m still waiting for it to go back to normal :joy:
