What direction does the fan blow on an Orion 24/12-70 DC DC converter?

Hi there, I am installing this DCDC onto a wall, and I cannot find any preferred orientation, is one direction better than another?

I would think that having the fan blow air upwards would help reduce the need for the fan due to natural convection, and it seems that the fan pulls air into the enclosure. But I can’t be sure because it seems that the fan only runs when needed (a good thing!) and I can’t develop enough load prior to installing it.

So I think I would it the fan at the bottom, blowing up, BUT that would put the labeling upsidedown, and I suppose more foreign things could fall down into the grate. I would like to mount it with the long axis vertical for space constraint reasons. Thanks for the help deciding!

Hi, asking exactly same question with spot on reasoning. Blades of fan looks like they pushing air in. WHat did your testing showed? Thanks, Lukas,

Unfortunately, it’s been installed for a while, but never reached a high enough continuous load to trigger the fan! I did install with the fan at the bottom, it leaves the screw terminals and grating open to falling objects, I think I regret that.
