Hi I’m trying to use the VM-3P75CT to measure my 3rd party EV Charger but much as @Daza perhaps I don’t have option. My VictronConnect is iOS and 6.19 and meter on v1.09.
Is this a little GUI glitch?
I would love to see my EV Charger separately in VRM
Victron took the feature out just before the 1.08 I do believe but think they are still looking at it, so the Shelly EM is the best you will get to add it or do it through HA if you want to see everything all in one.
I am looking into buying an extra set of meters to visualize AC Loads in my home and also to visualize my EV charger. Could you do me a favor please?
What happens if you mark/tag the meter as “AC load”? Does it show up as a “child” of AC Loads in VRM? Can you rename it so it shows as a separate tile?
Greatly appreciated if you could test this for me, many thanks in advance.
For your information, I have an EM24 meter and running Victron OS v3.55 on the Cerbo and I have the ability to set the EM24 as “EV charger”:
It does nothing does not show up in the VRM do gram but shows as a device in VRM and the role can only be done through Connect not sure why Victron pulled it from there own meter VM-3P75CT but it’s made this meter very basic, like not being able to use the other clamps on a single phase install for other things to monitor through the one device ie like solar heat pump and EV with just the one device would have been nice not sure if this has been abandoned or is in the works but to do that the clamps themselves would have to come up as the devices that could be assigned roles not sure if @guystewart could shed any light here?
Think this was one of the reasons why I tried to get everything into HA so I could see everything I don’t need the multi to balance the load I just want to see all the devices
I was also hoping for the same feature - that on my single phase install I could repurpose the unused CTs for my EV charger and perhaps another AC load. I think you hinted at this @guystewart or someone else in Victron did in the webinar?
My main case is needing to separate out the EV consumption in VRM. I do use Home Assistant but I love VRM already and it’s so close to perfect for me. Even my wife uses it and she’s not as technical. It’s a lovely UI missing just a few bits IMHO.
@independer I’ve a new meter on it’s way I intended for the EV which I can experiment with (my existing one is my grid meter) but I don’t think it sounds too hopeful listening to @Daza
That’s all my Victron meter is doing so at this present moment in time you can’t see it in the VRM as EV charger or heat pump. Yes I have been dropping hints for this to be opened up for you to monitor three devices even if the Victron just say well you can get it to monitor three devices but one of them can’t be the grid at the same time I’ll be happy with that limitation rather than not being able to use the two other CT’s like I currently am as my VM-3P75CT is only doing my EV charger I’ll continue to bang this little drum and hope that @guystewart or @mpvader implement this much needed tweak for us single phase installs
I am looking to visualize my aircon (single phase).
I am looking to visualize my third party EV charger too. The topicstarter is also looking for this.
Can this be achieved in a 3 phase home with single phase MP2 ESS in VRM?
I was thinking of buying an ET112 for the airco and an extra EM24 for the EV charger.
The ET112 will show up it’s the Victron VM-3P75CT meter that won’t do it I’m sure the EM540 has the capability of a 3phase when set to single phase can monitor other devices on the other CT’s all at the same time like how I want the VM-3P75CT to function
So the ET112 at least and possibly other 3rd party meters DO show these important loads such as EV Charger in VRM but Victron’s own meter doesn’t? But it did at one time in a prior firmware?
I’ve had my electrician wire everything for Victron meter - so for CT clamps and the comms to the Cerbo.
Not sure it ever done this as the 1.08 was supposed to bring this but was pulled from the VM-3P75CT. Yes the ET112 can do that is is evident that my two ET112’s can role change
So the coms need to go to the CerboGX but also needs the termination resistor in the VM-3P75CT the CT clamps for that unit go in the unit themselves and are L1,2 and 3 specific as far as I remember and about a double din in the CU and it needs a neutral live earth I ended up fusing the neutral for this just in case it ever locked up that I wouldn’t have to turn off the CU to fire it back to life like you would fuse the ET112 neutral
The VM-3P75CT firmware already supports the EV charger role, but the release version of VictronConnect has not implemented this yet. When using the latest VictronConnect beta (6.20-beta15 at the moment), you should be able to set the role to EV charger.
@Luc Ah great thanks never knew there was a beta for connect it seems like it’s on steroids it’s so snappy, I’ve updated but it does not seem to show watts in the VRM but does display on the remote console but the remote console is showing the charger in the wrong place but the VRM is showing it in the right place I take it that this is a limitation of the New UI on how much can go input side? Also is there any chance that is single phase installs would be able to use the other CT’s to monitor other devices?
Hi @Daza, VRM might not yet support this, but I don’t know for sure.
Regarding multi-role support, it is on the list of feature requests, but other features (such as Multi-RS ethernet support) have had higher priority. I have no indication when, or if, we start working on it.
