VictronConnect Insane battery drain

VictronConnect causes extreme battery drain and overheating on my iPhone 17 Pro Max

The phone loses approximately 10% battery within five minutes of opening the app and becomes extremely hot. The issue appears consistently while VictronConnect is running.

On the latest 6.4 version

Is there anything specific you are doing with VC or does it just happen if the app is open?
I’m sitting with mine open now on a 16 pro max and beta IOS and it is behaving itself.
Have you tried to reinstall it?
Saying that, it is getting a bit warmer now , battery dropped 4% in 5 minutes.

I have flagged this with the app team, thanks.

@Nick I recently updated to 6.40 on my iPhone 16 Pro w/ 26.5.2 and the battery drain is tolerable.

The previous versions were a lot worse and the phone would get very hot.

Test case:
Realtime graph updates - a SmartSolar MPPT or Smart Shunt - on the Trends tab, go to the second screen that lets you pick the two axes to plot.

26 had issues, I expect betas to be heavy, they have a lot of debug and its new code.

Agree early 26 versions were a bit rough. 26.5.2 seems ok. Maybe @Jbell can check if the phone iOS is up-to-date.

6.40 is so much better than prior versions which would eat 10-20% of battery in 10 minutes. Now its more like 2%.

im on iOS 27 beta 4 just sitting on the device list screen it starts heating up very quickly and I only have 1 victron device so it’s not like it’s pulling from a bunch of different devices, which would be understandable.

I’m going to see if I can put the CPU usage in my dynamic island while the app’s open. My guess is it’s just pinning the CPU at 100%. For some reason

27 has some under the hood changes that are being problematic. And it is a beta that the app does not currently support, so issues are not unexpected, often a result of an apple issue/change.

Makes since what I will say is iOS 27 has been miles better and faster then iOS 26. Now the official release comes out in about a month so hopefully they can fix this issue soon because when everyone updates there iPhones in September they are going to have terrible battery drain with this app.

Agree re 26 to 27 improvement.
Its with the right team, I am sure it will be sorted by launch, presuming it isn’t an apple bug they have to fix.
