Hello - I have a multiplus 12/3000, 4 100ah Battleborn, 800 watt solar panels and controller from Rich and 30amp shorepower. Went on a trip and i was concerned about shorepower/solar keeping batteries charged so i disconnected the POS and NEG where the battery bank comes into all. when i came back my Victron connect showed 0% SOC and 13.6V Battery Bank (which was correct by multimeter) I plugged in shore power and Voltage on batteries immediately started rising (12/300) went to bulk/absorption/float but the current reading started up but came down pretty quickly. same thing is happening when i drive alternator current and voltage rises but alternator just quickly drops all the while voltage is still up… Shore Power charging is keeping batteries at 13.6 but i am afraid to reset to 100SOC - can;t figure out how to do it. everything seems to be working right - the readings arem’t though - except VOLTAGE.. any ideas? Thanks
Jerry
Connect using the VictronConnect phone app. Go to settings (cog wheel) and battery. At the bottom you can synchronise to 100% or input your own value manually. I suggest you also change the “battery SOC on reset” setting to “keep SOC”.
Thanks - i have done that a long time ago but i guess what i am asking how do i know it is 100% - should i watch the voltage until it gets to 14.x and then do reset Jerry
Your problem is you probably do.not have keep SOC on reset, so it goes to a null value until you do your next full charge to 14.x Volts. If your batteries are currently on float at 13.6V and are no longer taking amy charge current they will be 99.0 to 99.5% SOC so you may as well synch to 100%. As you went bulk/ absorption/ float very quickly, that says batteries ate full and it probably happened too quick for the shunt to reset itself to 100%. In your position I would synch to 100%.
yay very cool - that is great - I will do it tomorrow and try and remember to follow up here. haha - jerry
Hi again - i am glad this is still open because i did as instructed set to 100%. The Charging is doing the exact same thing as I initially stated and now SOC is back down to 0% - even though charging occurs. What i did not mention id that i have the 12/3000 on Charging Only. Could that make a difference? thanks Jerry
If this is happening and tje SmartShunt is permanently powered then I suggest you may have a wiring issue and you have a charger cable or another cable such as chassis ground connected to the battery negative.

so you dont think Charging only has anything to do with it even though on our trip (inverter on always) - We never had a problem…just checking.. J
If the inverter is set to charge only and it is plugged into shore power and the battery is connected then it will charge.
Part of the trouble with diagnosing over the internet is answering questions blind (not knowing the system) and having poor explanations of the symptoms.
Explain clearly what state the system was in when it went to 0% recently, any graphs showing voltage and current from Victron Connect would be good.
