Victron Quattro 15kva

Hi all, we’ve recently done this three phase setup in a factory but we’re having a problem that when the grid comes back after an outage the inverters would display the flashing overload light and the screen would say #24 system protection initiated. Any ideas what the problem would be?⁹

Power Factor can be very bad when you power on a factory all at once.

For a short time you may have no more then 5 kva available instead of 15 at Power Factor 0.3 each phase.

Peak power would be very high, way to much for the victrons

And that is Quattro 15kVas with only one run of DC cable over that length? Should be 2x95mm². Also not a fan of the amount of cable coming out of FW batteries. Plus their voltage collapse under surge loads.

I think perhaps insufficient DC sizing (besides the stellar suggestion from @Frisianstar that it could also be PF) crippling the system as it should be power assiting on grid connect and probably can’t.

Error 24 has a full explanation here. It has alot to do with AC wiring. So you will need to spend some time there following the steps outlined.

Summary

Execute this procedure right after the error occurred; do not first reset the system.

Step 1

Start with making a video of all units and their LED code. Do not first reset the system; and do not reset it after making the video either.

Step 2

Completely disconnect all AC wiring, both in- and out, on all units. Make pictures of the terminals; to make sure when discussing this with an engineer; there is no misunderstanding on what has been meant by this instruction.

Step 3 Now, with an ohm-meter, measure the resistance between the neutral terminals on AC-input and the AC-output, A working unit will show no connection between these terminals. And also measure the resistance between the Line terminals of AC-input and AC-output.

A faulty unit will measure zero or close to zero resistance.

Good units will measure discontinuity between the Line in and out terminals. And measure a few hundred ohms between the neutral In and Out AC terminals.

Recovery: system remains off until restarted

.

Its a neat looking install though.
