Victron Orion-Tr Smart 12/48-8A (380W) Isolated DC-DC Charger

Integrating an Isolated Victron Charger with a Common Ground

Currently, Victron offers only an isolated version of this charger. What strategies can I employ to connect it to a common ground setup while ensuring that its warranty remains intact?

Just connect both sides to the same ground.

Hi Ludo, I’ve received differing recommendations regarding this matter. “For your setup, where you need to charge a 48V battery bank from a 12V source, the Victron Orion-Tr Smart 12/48-8A (380W) remains the appropriate choice. However, since it is an isolated charger, you must ensure that the input and output grounds remain separate to avoid warranty issues and maintain safety.” Now, I’m feeling uncertain about what the correct approach might be.

Ok, its going on midnight, and i don’t really care for fiction.

I’ll check the manual tomorrow or maybe one of the experts will kick in.

As i thought : nothing in the manual

Thanks Ludo: I’ll just install it and see what happens
