Hi everyone,
I’m having trouble with a Victron ESS system that used to operate correctly in trade mode, but recently it stopped behaving as expected. Instead of following the charging and discharging setpoints, the system remains in inverting mode or charging mode for days or even weeks at a time, without reacting to grid conditions or scheduled behavior.
System setup:
- Cerbo GX running Venus OS v3.62
- 3x MultiPlus inverter/chargers in 3-phase configuration
- Batrium BMS connected via VE.Can
- Solar PV connected via AC input
- Victron EM24 Ethernet Energy Meter (for grid measurement)
- Additional EM24 for solar PV measurement (connected via WiFi — occasionally unstable)
I have another similar system running fine in trade mode, and I’ve compared the configurations but can’t spot any meaningful differences.
In VRM, I can see the correct charge and discharge setpoints being generated at the right times, but the MultiPlus units simply do not react. The EM24 grid values are visible in VRM and on the Cerbo console, so basic communication seems to be working.
My questions:
- Why doesn’t this system follow the VRM-scheduled charging/discharging setpoints?
- Where can I find what is blocking the MultiPlus from entering charge or discharge mode?
- Could this be related to the unstable WiFi link of the solar EM24?
- Are there hidden limits or protection states that might silently override ESS logic?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I’m happy to share logs, screenshots, system diagrams, or more technical data if needed.
Thanks in advance!
