Victron Energy Isolation Transformer

Hi I repair audio power amplifiers and am looking for an isolation transformer to go between my bench 240v outlets and the incoming mains from the grid so that the mains earth is decoupled from the bench outlet. As such the bench outlets + - are no longer grounded.
Is the Victron Energy Isolation Transformer suitable for this task?

You can download one of the isolation transformers’ manuals and see for yourself if it’s what you need.

For example, look at the 3600W version:

Thanks for the reply. I have read the PDF, but as I am not planning in using it on a boat, I was looking for assurance that given my land lock usage, it would be suitable.

Without rewiring it the answer is that its not suitable.
The interwinding screen is connected to the secondary of the transformer and in your application it should be connected to the primary.
I have used https://airlinktransformers.com/ to provide isolation transformers for various applications and they will build one to exactly your spec.

The interwinding screen in your application it should be connected to the primary

Why?

Because in the unlikely event of a transformer fault if the inter winding screen is connected to the secondary the equipment ground goes live. If it’s connected to the primary it doesn’t.

Then remove that link (E) and you are good to go if you connect (F) and (G) together with the primary ground.
Am I missing something?
In the end he’s an electronic guy that repairs things and this is nothing for him…

As I said it needs rewiring to make it suitable.
The Victron transformer is wired that way as it’s in a metal box and is designed to be used on a boat.
Transformers designed to be used on land have the interwinding screen and the case connected to the supply ground as it’s safer to do it that way.

Sorry, I’ve missed that part with rewiring, paying attention to the later idea…

This link is a good description of the requirementsTransformers & Earth Connections

Doesn’t cover the way Iso transformers are wired when used on boats. Or the way they are wired when feeding an RCD/RCBO but apart from that it was ok.
