Victron 12V 3000VA MultiPlus-II 12/3000/120-32 Inverter/Charger

Hi, I have installed a Victron 12V 3000VA MultiPlus-II 12/3000/120-32 Inverter/Charger to a motorhome with a 310AH Lithium battery. I’m having troubles with the ‘low battery’ light coming on the inverter/charger even though the battery is at full charge. I have configured the unit using the MK3 connector to a computer to what I think is right.

Can someone please advise me if they have had a similar problem and what you did to rectify. Thank you

Hi Ryan, welcome aboard.
Can you share a photo of your setup? or give us a list of what exactly you have? Maybe a schematic drawing?

Some examples:

  • Ekrano GX or Cerbo GX “brains”
  • What specific Lithium battery? e.g. make/model, does it have a Battery Management system with CAN BUS BMS?
  • is the CAN BUS BMS connected to the GX?
  • What kind of fuses, disconnect switches, and wire. e.g. Class T 400A, Blue Sea HD 3000, 4/0 cable
  • Do you have a SmartShunt 1000 at the battery for monitoring?
  • DIY install or did you have the motorhome people do it?

Usually its a good idea to use a voltmeter that can actually measure and hold voltage eg record the minimum battery voltage close to the terminals of the MPII, or to get it from a GX device.

Sometimes its a bad cable lug crimp, or undersized wire.

What are the loads that are drawing power when this happens?

e.g. Air Conditioner, Coffee Maker, ShopVac, …

With a bit more info, maybe some of us can chime in on tracking down the issue.

Cheers!
