VenusOS V3.52~2 GUIv2 issues/suggestions

Here my 2 cents:

  • The switches should be stacked vertical instead of horizontal (or have an option to enable that layout), to fit more onto the screen without the need to scroll.

  • The inverter enable/switch page should have the option to add other switches, like the enable for IP43 chargers, and be rename-able (“switch 2” is meaningless for everyone except the one who wired it)

  • The 4/5 (depending on levels existing) buttons on the bottom should have an option not to auto-hide

  • The buttons on the bottom should also stay visible while being deeper in the menu of the settings (to quickly go to other main pages and return to preferably the same page of settings, instead of having to click “back” several times)

  • The ‘Inverter’ list should show the load information as displayed in settings->Device list or the batteries report, instead of just “inverting”:

Also it would be nice if the “-” values would show in their details.

  • The load information in Device list should decide to report either VA or W:

  • IP43 charger (shown as “ZECO” on Device list and Inverters/Chargers and as “Charger” on Batteries page) should be displayed an counted either as AC-in (on a configurable phase) or as another input box (like for solar, generator, … have), instead of being treated 3rd class citizen with a split-brain (showing up both under inverter and batteries) that is drawing the direction of the energy flow the wrong way when charging - and not being recorded as “from grid” in VRM at all, even after pulling quite some KWh.

  • The animated energy dots should be drawn under the connection dots of the boxes and starting from the center of them, not only on the visible connection lines. This would give a smoother animation as they would gradually appear under the connection dots, instead of popping into and out of existence next to them.

That’s it for today.

Nice feedback!

Can you post a screenshot of the switches you mean in your first item?

This page, accessible through the button in the top-left corner (which IMHO should also not vanish when going into the settings):

Stacking this vertically would leave enough room to keep the controls in that example within the viewport.
This is also the page I write about in the 2nd point.

Also: When I run the GUI on my SmartTV I can only scroll vertically (the built-in browser has support for that with buttons on the remote) if needed, horizontal scroll is not possible on this (and I guess quite some other similar devices) as it does not support holding the “mouse” button while moving the cursor.

About the 2nd point: making that “switches” page configurable would give the option to keep them active even in read-only mode in the VRM, allowing to give a defined level of control of the system to the user - while taking away the ability to break it.
