VenusOS v3.50 / GUI v2 issues/suggestions

Which HV algorithm do you mean @maa ?

I may be wrong but I thought I understood that the new interface improved the charging algorithm for batteries like Pylon which have a lot of High Voltage alarms.

This is what @nickdb wrote on
Pylontech firmware updates :

This has nothing to do with the interface, the charge algo was changed for pylons, this is documented in the release notes, but didn’t go into a lot of detail about it.

Updated to v3.50 and love the new UI

But there seems to be a problem with showing multiple inputs on a Quattro-II.
My ac input 1 is set as grid and my ac input 2 set as shore power. But in the “overview” tab the grid isn’t shown.
In the “Brief” tab everything shows up normaly.

If i change my ac input 1 to “generator” instead of “Grid” everything shows up normal.

Is this a bug in the software or is the problem in my cerbo? Already tried restarting and downgrading to 3.42 and then upgrading, but nothing works.

ah ok, I misunderstood then, can you tell me where to find these notes

Official notes are here: Victron Energy - Victron Professional

But it lacks detail.
The blog mentions it briefly:

Venus OS 3.50 now better handles Pylontech batteries experiencing cell voltage imbalance. For this improvement to be active, the GX needs to have access to the cell voltages from the Pylontech BMS. To check if a system has this capability, navigate to the Battery, then Details, and check for Lowest cell and Highest cell voltage readings. If not, it might indicate that the BMS doesn’t support it or needs a firmware update.

From Venus OS v3.50 - New User Interface, Security and Generator Improvements - Victron Energy

There is a beta topic that discusses the change in much more detail.

So I wasn’t talking nonsense then since in this article we read

“Venus OS 3.50 now better handles Pylontech batteries experiencing cell voltage imbalance”

Has anyone here been able to verify that the behavior of Pylontech is improved thanks to v3.50?

Indeed not. It is just a function of the OS update, not the new interface per se.
If your batteries send min/max voltages, the improved algo will be in effect.

Can someone explain what the ‘External control’ status is telling me exactly? I was expecting to see ‘Charging’ here.

Today it is sunny and the batteries are full, so it toggles between charging / discharging, hence I noticed the difference between the messages:

Charging:

Discharging:

In the gui settings (left top) external control is not enabled. So it must be something else?

I do have the aggregated battery selected as battery monitor though. Would that be the ‘external control’ appearing only during charge?

A post was split to a new topic: Verify if the High Vokatge alarms have been solved in the new firmware

Can I choose myself what devices to show in overview?
I for example do not want to show EVCS in my overview because it is just taking place and making LOAD tile so small that I can not see phases wattage in my 5" LCD
Other thing I have is AC Charger in the left that is just for emergency but is taking screen estate and I would like to hide it.
To illustrate here is old UI and new UI and my old eyes are not able to read phase power in new UI anymore :frowning:

Hey @mpvader thanks, for the update, I installed the beta - the mouse support fix allowed me to skip the “Intro” pages, and I now have the home page up and running. Thanks again for all the great work from the victron team on this huge update and you specifically for pointing me to the solution for my specific problem.

Maybe you are using a BMS which is connected to the Cerbo? If this is the case then the inverter is no longer deciding how to charge. The BMS will tell the inverter how it should charge and thus this is displayed with “External Control”. If you do not charge, for example in my case, then there is only written “inverting”. So the external control is written while you are charging.
